I found the Textile Arts Resource Guide a very helpful collection of websites that give skills, ideas, creative thinking.

It was published in 2008, so the information is not current, but it has a very good number of links that are still active and current.  I found it very useful for some development of skills, eg working with Angelina Fibre etc.  Added to that, there are links to textile artists who are mainly quilt artists. This is an area of textile art that I feel ambivalent towards and so it is good to challenge my preconceptions.  It is interesting to look at the work of Hollis Chatelain, for example, to see how her painted quilt art challenges environmental and equality issues, likewise Marion Coleman.
