As with all the exercises, I looked at this very methodically, in all types of lighting, to try to determine the colours of the fabric. Mixing the paints was tricky, particularly to create a terracotta that had the right tone. What I have learnt from this however, is not only the skills in mixing colours, and the effects of black, white and greys in the mix, but also how the colours on the fabric are changed dependent on their juxtapositioning with another colour. I am sure that the manufacturers chose maybe just 8 colours, but my mixing was at least 15, because the tones were different dependent on their placing. Very interesting discover.
