This was a very exciting, bold and vivid exhibition in the clean, bright Albareh Gallery in Bahrain. I was guided around the paintings by an intern student and he was so helpful in discussing the styles, use of colour and the amazing brushstrokes from the Jordanian artist Fadi Daoud.’
The intern student explained the influence of Seurat, Picasso and Islamic Art. The links with the colour pointillism I was currently studying and stitching at home was very stimulating. I especially responded to the colour and the stripping down of shapes to be rebuilt with bold lines of colour, creating movement and emotion. There was such energy and creativity here, I wanted to stay and peer and even float amongst the paintings. Mmm I guess I loved them!
